The 48th annual Canadian Water Ski & Wakeboard Instructors' Course (CWSIC) will be held June 13-16, 2008, Location: Hockey Opportunity Camp This ‘learn to' program provides training in the safest and most effective methods of teaching beginners the basic skills in: Beginner two-ski & one-ski Slalom Barefooting Wakeboarding Disabled Sit Skiing The course also offers an intense boat-driving component and lessons in error detection and correction. Lectures, audiovisual aids, printed materials and practical training are used to introduce participants to the safest and most advanced methods of teaching water skiing. This course is not designed to improve participants own skiing/boarding skills. Participants will be evaluated through written, oral and practical examinations to be eligible for instructor certification. In order to qualify for full certification, participants must have their first aid certification (i.e. Red Cross, Bronze Cross, Bronze Medallion). ITEMS TO BRING:
Handle (old or new) for land practice Students may wish to bring a wet suit, but skis and other equipment will be provided. Please note that no recreational skiing/riding will be available during the week. Confirmation packages including directions, Waiver, transportation information etc will be sent out late May/early June.

REQUIREMENTS A desire to impart knowledge of water skiing to the general public. Students must be 16 years of age or older as of June 1, 2008. A valid pleasure craft operator’s card if born after April 1, 1983 (There will NO LONGER be an opportunity at the course to receive this license). Royal Life Saving Bronze medallion desirable, though not a pre-requisite. However, you must be able to demonstrate the equivalent of Bronze Medallion swimming requirements (i.e. 400 yards of continuous swimming).
